Hi CSA Members –

Here we are, having arrived at the last week for this season. It has been fun to see you all each week and get to know you just a little bit. We hope that you have enjoyed the vegetables and are the healthier for it. We expect this week to have the same as the last couple of weeks and for those of you who enjoyed the kale, I expect to have some again this week. The aphid got into it but I found we could manage them with some garlic extract, so we were able to clean them up and then recover the growth although it took a few weeks. Come early if you want it.

As in past years we will be having our great pumpkin giveaway.  This will take place on Oct. 13, 2011 at the same place and the same hours that we have had all year. We will have pumpkins of all sizes. If you have children and it works out, humor me once again and bring your children to pick out their pumpkin (one of the little joys in life is to watch them get excited over small things). This does not require you to have any shares left this is just a small way for us to thank you for participating as a member of our CSA. However if you do have shares left we will have other produce available as well if you wish to get it. If you have used all your shares you are welcome to purchase whatever we have available at that time.

Although we are just coming to the end of this season and looking forward to slowing down just a little bit, I am already beginning to plan and plot for next year. One of the things that would help me a great deal in my planning is to get even a rough idea of how many would plan on participating again next year. So with that in mind we will have a slip of paper for you to just check a box answering the question yes or no – If you had to say today would you participate again next year? No name is required unless you wish to and this does not commit you to anything (that will come at the beginning of 2012). If you have enjoyed the veggies, tell all your friends and neighbors, we would like to see more participants next year and you all are our best advertisement.

Chris has two last recipes for you for this year. She made the enchilada one the other day and it was very good.
